I shouldn't use Windows because it'll ruin/hurt/slowdown/decrease the longevity of my MacBook and I'm wondering if this is true? But if you already purchased/ordered the Pro, just enjoy it.

If none of these apply to you, the Pro won't perform better than the Air.

Probably could have saved some money by going for the Air - the Pro provides a slightly brighter screen, a touchbar, better mics, slightly better battery life and it can run at full load for greater than 8-minutes. My husband's getting me the 13 inch pro with the 16gb something for Christmas Just the path of least resistance in both scenarios. There really isn’t anything magical about it. Really you have to get into industrial application use, like Linux apps, to just get 1:1 ports of tiny apps that show zero difference in cpu/Ram usage. The arm variants of Linux, for example, were absolutely not built with machines anywhere near an M1 in power as its focus until recently with AWS/graviton and its prototypical arm server predecessors. The combo of all of the above things means universally the ARM variant of an app is lighter weight on cpu and memory than its 圆4 counterparts, and arm apps in general do in fact use less memory on average than 圆4 apps. While true, it doesn’t account for the fact that 圆4 developed programs have been targeting much larger volumes of Ram/CPU for much longer, so it’s totally fine to use inefficient, bloated frameworks to cut down on development time.ĪRM projects have been targeting a limited set of resources for longer, and a lot of time that means not getting all the features.
